Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten B.V. – information about the company and ferries
Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten B.V. is part of Royal Wagenborg and connects the Dutch mainland with the Wadden Islands of Ameland (from Holwerd) and Schiermonnikoog (from Lauwersoog) daily. The fleet consists of four regular ferries: the Oerd and Sier for Ameland and the Rottum and Monnik for Schiermonnikoog, with crossings taking approximately 50 minutes to Ameland and 45 minutes to Schiermonnikoog.
Wagenborg also operates two express services: the Fostaborg for Ameland (approximately 20 minutes) and the Esonborg for Schiermonnikoog (also approximately 20 minutes). Despite the expiration of the concession, Wagenborg is also actively investing in the future, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Construction has begun on a new express service for Ameland, the “Wadden Ferry,” which will operate with significantly lower emissions starting in 2026.
