TESO – information about the company and ferries

TESO (Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming) is the only ferry company connecting the Dutch Wadden Island of Texel to the mainland via Den Helder, and has been providing this crucial connection since 1907. The crossing takes approximately 20 minutes and operates year-round with high frequency – every half hour during peak hours and every hour outside peak hours. TESO is a cooperative, largely owned by Texel residents, and thus literally and figuratively forms a link between the island and the mainland.

The fleet consists of two modern double-decker ferries: the Texelstroom and Dokter Wagemaker. Both vessels can carry up to 1,750 passengers and 300 vehicles per crossing. The Texelstroom, in service since 2016, is a state-of-the-art ferry powered by a combination of LNG and green energy and is considered one of the most sustainable ferries in Europe. The ferries are equipped with spacious lounges, outdoor decks, catering facilities and wheelchair-friendly access, making the crossing both functional and comfortable.
