30-03-2011:General cargo “ARKLOW RESOLVE” ran aground near Vordingborg, Denmark. Vessel enroute to northern Spain with cargo of grain. Still aground next day after an attempt to refloat the ship with own power failed. The anti pollution vessel “MARIE MILJØ” was sent to the grounding position, but there are no signs of oil spills. The ship is solidly stuck, but it was still unclear how it got there. It had just switched from Dutch to Irish flag and was heading from Szczecin towards Cork at the time of the grounding. The tug “STORESUND” is now en route from Svendborg to pull the ship free. After refloating, further investigations of the ship’s bottom will be carried out before the ship is granted permission to sail. The Danish Maritime Authority is currently investigating the cause of the grounding. The “ARKLOW RESOLVE” was refloated at 15.30 hrs. from its grounding site in the Masnedsund in the foremidday of 31-03 by the tug “STORESUND”.
09-11-2018:Bulkcarrier disabled off Marstrand. In the night of Sep 11, 2018, the Swedish Coastguard was alerted by the “ARKLOW RESOLVE” which was drifting just south of Marstrand in wind speeds of 23 m/s and wave heights up to four meters. The patrol boats “KBV 001” and “KBV 316” were sent to the distressed ship which had difficulties to get anchored. It was therefore decided to take it in tow to a safer area. The ship was loaded with fertilizer and had on board about 86 tonnes of bunker oil and about 27 tons of diesel. The vessel was towed to the Dana Fjord off Gothenburg en where it was anchored in pos 57° 40.60′ N 011° 41.13′ E, and the shipping company took over responsibility.
