Two were sent by the maritime prefecture (Premar) Channel and another was mobilized by the owner. The Navy also sent a helicopter. In the late morning, the ship regained its propulsion and reached the port of Fécamp in the late afternoon. |
31-05-2016: | Collided with a bridge on the Albert Canal in Antwerp on Tuesday evening. One of the passengers was seriously injured. There were a total of eight people on board. The wheelhouse of the 85-metre-long ship was trapped under the bridge due to the collision and was completely destroyed. The emergency services made the ship, which was loaded with wood, heavier by filling it with water. As a result, it sank and could be removed from under the bridge. The bridge on Ingenieur Menneslaan is closed to traffic, Belgian police spokesperson Wouter Bruyns reported. It is currently being investigated whether the bridge is still stable enough for traffic. It is unknown how the accident happened. The victim has since been taken to hospital. Repaired at Scheepswerf Niestern Sander B.V., Delfzijl. |
