20-02-2015:“KEREM S” ran aground after engine failure at the northeastern tip of Levitha between Kos and Paros, 16 miles west of Ieros. Vessel was disabled in the morning 4,5 miles west of Patmos and drifted towards the rocky coast of Levitha. The crew of six was evacuated by a Super Puma helicopter of the Greek airforce which took off at 6 p.m. in unfavourable weather conditions with winds of 7-8 Beaufort. The evacuation was completed at 7.15 p.m., and the castaways, five of Turkish nationality and one Greek, were taken to the Kos Hospital for medical checks where they arrived at 7.35 p.m. Also the lifeboat “Os.El.Akt” and a tug from Piraeus were dispatched.
