17-11-2016:En route from Szczecin to Hamburg the “EEMS TRAVELER” suffered an engine failure upon entering the locks of the Kiel-Canal in Kiel-Holtenau at 9.30 p.m. The ship came perpendicular to the lock chamber before it could be berthed at its North quay, no damage reported. The police boarded the ship and investigated the incident. At 11.10 p.m. the vessel was allowed to continue. Following another stop at the Voith Quay in the North Port of Kiel the ship was meanwhile underway again and expected in Hamburg next day.
07-12-2017:Dutch general cargo vessel “EEMS TRAVELLER” reported propulsion failure to MRCC Corsen, France being disabled some 15 nm off Portsall, France, Celtic sea, north of Ushant. MRCC Corsen sent SAR ship “ABEILLE BOURBON” (IMO 9308687) to distressed vessel. “ABEILLE BOURBON” was on standby near distressed freighter until it became clear, that the crew can’t fix the problem by own means. At 12:50 manager of freighter contracted Abeilles International for salvage, at 15:42 “EEMS TRAVELLER” was taken on tow by “ABEILLE BOURBON” to be towed to Brest, where she arrived at night same day, and was docked. “EEMS TRAVELLER” with 2000 tons of steel on board is en route from Gijon Spain to Rotterdam.
