21-09-2004:The motor vessel “LUMARE” reported to the Coastguard Center Den Helder at 09:30 that it was capsizing. At that time the ship was approximately 27 kilometers west-northwest of Vlieland. It was caused by the deck cargo of wood sliding through the oncoming sea. A large part of the cargo has fallen into the sea. The lifeboat of the Royal Dutch Rescue Company of Terschelling, the “ARIE VISSER”, has now arrived at the ship. The buoyage vessel “TERSCHELLING” and the tugboat “HUNTER” are on their way to the “LUMARE”. There are six people on board and was underway to Cardiff  in England. The ship has now changed its course to Harlingen. There was no reason to evacuate the crew. The “LUMARE” was anchored to put things in order. The ships present have resumed their journey and the lifeboat has returned to Terschelling. The tug “TYPHOON” will remain with the ship for the time being and a Royal Netherlands Air Force helicopter has mapped out the lost wood.
