The vessel is suspected on account of it missing its anchor and a data analysis that places the vessel in the area off of Gotland at the time when the cable was damaged. The crewmembers of the vessel were interrogated for around 3 hours and then released owing to lack of evidence. Authorities have stated that there is no reason to continue holding the vessel till there is definitive proof, such as an anchor being found near the damaged cable.
